The partnership between Gorillaz and Converse doesn't end with the shoes - Gorillaz and Converse will host a Gorillaz Sound System evening at the legendary 100 Club in London on Thursday, December 1 to celebrate the forthcoming collaboration and Gorillaz' 10 years in showbiz. Dr Dee is a new work composed by Damon Albarn and directed by Rufus Norris.

In the age before science and magic parted company, Doctor John Dee was the ultimate Renaissance Man: astrologer, alchemist, mathematician and spy, he coined the term 'British Empire' and equipped the Elizabethan Court with the knowledge to make it manifest. The inspiration for both Marlowe's Faust and Shakespeare's Prospero, Dee studied the Heavens, he spoke with Archangels, and he paid a bitter personal price.

Dr Dee explores ritual and symbolism in this country, past and present, using John Dee -- one of England's greatest but largely forgotten men -- as catalyst.

Rufus Norris is a theatre and opera directorwhose West End and Broadway shows include Cabaret, Don Giovanni, Festen, Les Liaisons Dangereuses and Vernon God Little.

Damon Albarn is a musician whose bands and projects include Blur, Gorillaz, The Good the Bad and the Queen and Monkey: Journey to the West for MIF07.

Damon Albarn and Rufus Norris 'Doctor Dee' premieres in July 2011 at the Palace Theatre for this year's Manchester International Festival.

From Montreal to Vancouver via Seattle, Texas and Toronto, over 32 days on their North American Tour this autumn, Gorillaz recorded a musical diary. The result is a collection of 15 tracks, some with vocals, some without, some combined performances and some solo.

The 15 track sonic journal, titled The Fall, produced by Gorillaz and Stephen Sedgwick, will be available to download for free by Sub Division fan club members on Christmas Day and will also be streamed on Gorillaz.com from Christmas Day.

The music was recorded during spare time while on the road. "I did it because there's a lot of time that you just spend staring at walls essentially. And it was a fantastic way of doing it" says Damon Albarn. "I found working in the day, whether it's in the hotel or in the venue, it was a brilliant way of keeping myself well." Adding that the collection is "..like a diary, I literally wrote everything on the day in each place and there's a strange sort of sound of America and its musical traditions that comes through. It feels like a journey through America."

A physical release is planned for later in 2011
